It’s been 10 years since hubby and I first got together. Until recently, I could count how many times I’ve cooked for him on… well, honestly, I don’t recall so there's no point counting.
Do you ever have an aversion for cooking too? Maybe not quite on my level but still. It's been a busy day, you've hit the gym, you've fielded another few wedding related emails and phone calls and... ugh. The thought crosses your mind: could I be bothered cooking?
If you’re anything like me, we need a good kick up the ol keister! Because not getting enough fresh fruit and veges can put our health on the back foot. And because planning a wedding can (and does) put your body under more stress than usual, it’s important that we keep up or improve your healthy choices. So your body can handle the stress mate.
Easy ‘red sauce’. So basic. So yummy. Any one can cook it (even me).
Reheat and use on pretty much anything: pizza, gnocchi, pasta, lasagna, sex up your steamed vegetables. I once did a bangers and mash with this easy peasy red sauce over the top because yes – I am that lazy.
1 x 600ml bottle Tomato passata
Carrots – a couple
Zucchini – a few
Onion x 1
Garlic – as much as takes your fancy
Chilli - if you’re my husband who puts chilli in everything.
Coconut Oil (or extra virgin olive oil) for the cooking bit
1 -2 drops doTERRA essential oil of your choice: oregano, or basil, or thyme, or rosemary
A deep-ish cooking pan
A blender of some description
Yes. I’m tots technical babes.
- Carrots, Zucchini, Onion, Garlic – chop up roughly
- Chuck a bit of coconut oil in your hot pan, throw all the above in plus chilli
- Drop in 1 x doTERRA essential oil of choice (1 drop of oregano will be PLENT-AY. Less is more).
- Cook/stir until soft. (That’s the key, get all the vegetables soooft so it’s easy to blend)
- Take off heat, allow to cool (if you could be bothered)
- Blend above vegetable mix with tomato passata (I’ll also shake out the bottle with some water and add that in to).
Wah-la! Plenty ofeasy-peasey red sauce, full of flavor and goodness.
MIX IT UP
Choosing a different doTERRA essential oil each time you whip this number up is what’s going to stop it being boring. Yes, doTERRA essential oils are such high quality that you can indgest some of them (don’t be doing that with just any essential oil).
Don’t be afraid to change up the vegetables – capsicum is a good one.
Why is this good for your wedding wellness?
I know when I’m busy, pasta and bottle sauces would be my go to. Yet to support the stress yo’ body is under during this busy busy busy time in your life, we need to get the highest quality nutrients in it baby! That means as much fresh fruits & veges as possible – and who could be bothered chopping and cooking vegetables every.single.night. Which is why this easy red sauce is so awesomesauce (yep. I said it!).
You also get the ah-mah-zing support that doTERRA essential oils offer. Oregano supports a healthy immune system, healthy digestion, and respiratory function when used internally. If you want to get all technical: orgenao is baaarrilliant because it is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants come up frequently in discussions about good health and preventing diseases (you can investigate further if you like). It’s a good one to have in ya love (that’s what she said). Especially if you’re fighting a cold and flu.
Because I believe weddings are a unique time for intense love, optimism and hope. And if you are better informed and better prepared you will have a better chance to tap in to this joy.
And more joy in the world is a good thing.
