5 awesome moments in the wedding world

Ah 2015. You came. You saw. You nearly killed me. (Jokes… but not really).

My first 12 months in business has been crazy. There’s still space in my brain for the faint memory of working a 9 to 5 office job. I remember what it’s like this time of year – sitting in an office chair, twiddling your thumbs, waiting for the holidays to roll around.

There is only so many times you can check Facebook and Instagram a day. So me thinks’ you might need some top five countdowns to lead you on endless hours of Internet surfing fun!

Here for you my top 5 awesome moments in the wedding world – 2015:

Sometimes you think you’ve seen it all. Then Amey from The Perfect Party Co (formerly Pack A Perfect Party) throws a donkey into a wedding ceremony. I can’t wait to see what she does next! Gorgeous pictures captured by Stewart Ross Photography.

Confetti should come with a warning. The gorgeous Emma Nayler from Emma Nayler Photography (yes, that Emma Nayler!) got married this year. The uber talented Jasper and Ruby Visions did what they do best and captured this hilarious moment that left me on the floor in fits of giggles – Emma’s husband and his confetti-catching beard.

The final video though got me all choked up. The sweetest, sweetest film. Jasper and Ruby Visions rock!

Wedding Planning Masterclass is all about helping you with the perspiration once you’ve filled yourself up on the inspiration. This means I don’t do inspirational styled shoots.

Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on the fun. Other times I realise there is no need to throw my hat in the ring when Hope and Lace plus a talented team of vendors whip out this awesomeness.

My reaction on seeing this? I.went.nuts. Everyone in my office (me and the dog) bounced off the walls for hours after seeing this. I don’t want to confuse things with a list within a list but I can’t decide what I love more:

  1. The dress by Hope & Page
  2. That bouquet by Merci Bouquet
  3. The photos by Scott Surplice

Yep. The Style Co do workshops !

Yep. The Style Co do workshops!

Yeah. That’s right. The Kings and Queens of styling – The Style Co – started running workshops. (Well, they may have been doing them for a while but I attend one this year so it makes my list in 2015!).

I got so much out of attending their workshop. Crazy inspiring but also crazy-eyes-wide-opening-out-of-my-skull insightful to just how much hard work you’re in for when running a creative business.

Marie + Sarah will be back on the road in 2016 so be sure to check out The Style Co workshops >

I can’t think about Edwina Robertson without tearing up. Seriously. I’m welling up with tears just writing this.

Edwina doesn’t just take beautiful photos of couples on their wedding day (that make me want to get married again, just so I can have her shoot my photos!). She shares with us stories about the entire Australian rural community.

It feels so cliché to call Edwina a storyteller. Yet that is what she does so beautifully, genuinely and (what feels like) effortlessly.

To sum up using some of Edwina’s own words:
She has shed light on how tough some rural Australians are doing it due to the drought and exposed the situation to many who are blissfully unaware.

Blissfully unaware. Guilty as charged.

If that wasn’t enough, Edwina has been kicking butt all over the place:

Playing a huge role in raising over $40,000 for Tie Up the Black Dog foundation >

Launching Hearts of Australia >

And well, pretty much everything – you can see her best of 2015 here >

I feel like I want to stake my claim and shout “I knew her first!” as Edwina continues her world domination in 2016.

And that my friends brings us to the end of 5 awesome moments in the wedding world – 2015.   I’ll leave it in the hands of our number one to close us out:

Forget the dress, forget the styling, forget the fuss. If I have a love, half as warm, half as fun and half as perfect as this, then I have it all
